Orgasms

Orgasms matter a lot when it comes to becoming pregnant. While orgasm has been associated with the pleasure aspect of love making for a long time now, in reality it is directly associated with conception. I am not talking about orgasm simply in men (ejaculation) but also for women. Orgasm is not only that pleasurable feeling but biologically it is a stage when the maximum amount of reproductive juices is secreted by the body of a male as well as that of a female. If you and your partner can manage to have an orgasm at the same time then you do not need to read any other tips on how to become pregnant.

Position
Position matters. Make sure you are not making the sperm have to work extra hard. Use positions that ensure the sperm is deposited as close to the cervix as possible. This means using a position that facilitates deep penetration. Your basic missionary (woman underneath on her back) will be perfect for this. Avoid any position where the woman is on top as the sperm will need to work extra hard to swim upstream.

Relax
Relax. Once you have finished your intimate act, don’t jump up out if bed if you are trying to get pregnant. You should lay on your back for 10 minutes or so relaxing, preferably with a pillow under your hips so that they are elevated and the sperm can collect near the cervix.

Timing
Timing matters Regular sex of course increases your chances of getting pregnant, but you should not opt for multiple sessions in a day. All this is going to do is lower the male’s sperm count for each ejaculation. Once you are aware of the days when you are most fertile, you should try and plan to have intercourse with the highest level of sperm concentration. This may mean your male partner needs to abstain from sex and self pleasuring for the few days before your most fertile period (sorry guys! It’s the truth).

Get Educated!
OK – even following these basic tips you still might not become pregnant straight away. Don’t panic! Don’t jump straight to the conclusion that you are going to have fertility problems!
Some simple things might be causing you to have irregular menstrual and ovulation cycles or lower sperm count. Do you know that the PH level of your vagina is essential in getting pregnant naturally? You may be eating things or taking certain medications that are interfering with those critical PH levels.

How To Get Pregnant Fast

Once you make the important decision to start a family, you are probably going to want to know how to get pregnant fast. There is a beauty to letting nature “do it’s work” and relaxing and waiting for a pregnancy to happen, but let’s face it, we live in an increasingly “instant” work. Once you decide you want to get pregnant, you want to get pregnant fast.

There are many things that you can do to maximize your chances of getting pregnant fast and of having a healthy pregnancy. Following these simple tips can help.

  • Know When You Are Most Fertile

The secret to knowing how to get pregnant fast is in knowing when you are most fertile. You can only conceive when a sperm meets a recently released egg, so you must have intercourse on the days just before and during ovulation. If you are unsure exactly when you ovulate there are many simple things you can do to help. Taking your basal body temperature every morning and tracking it will help. When you ovulate you will see a slight spike in your body temperature (about one half to one whole degree celcius). An over the counter ovulation predictor kit can also help. They are relatively in expensive and available at most drug stores.

  • Know The Best Position To Get Pregnant

You can get pregnant in any position. But if you are looking to conceive then you can improve your chances by using one of the best positions to get pregnant. These include any position where the man is on top, so that gravity can help the sperm on their journey to the cervix. A classic missionary position or even a side position will work. Slightly elevating your hips (laying on a small pillow) can also help. Be sure to stay laying down for at least 10 minutes after intercourse, preferably with your hips slightly elevated.

  • What Your Partner Needs To Do

Your partner’s job is helping you get pregnant fast is to make sure that his sperm count is as high as possible when you are ovulating. This means avoiding hot tubs and wearing super tight pants (this is not an old wives tale! Extreme heat in the genital area can reduce a man’s sperm count). Also, he should abstain from sex or masturbating for several days before your peak fertility days.

  • Avoid Lubricants

Many lubricants contain spermicide. Even those that don’t can change the acidity and PH level of your vagina, possibly putting viable sperm at risk.

  • Pay Attention To Your Diet

Going into a pregnancy as healthy as possible is really important. If you are trying to get pregnant it should be obvious that you should not be drinking or smoking. But there are also many other things in your diet that could ultimately decrease your fertility if you have a sensitivity to them. These include caffeine and types of fish that could be high in mercury content.

  • Hips Are For Childbearing

Entering a pregnancy overweight can be hard in your body. But being significantly underweight will affect the regularity of your menstrual cycle and your chances of conceiving. When you are working on how to get pregnant fast you should be a healthy body weight within your optimal BMI range – not too thin and not too overweight.

  • Relax Already!

Don’t turn getting pregnant into a chore or a science project (yes, an ovulation kit can help, but it’s not super sexy – be discreet about it!) Try and maintain a positive attitude about getting pregnant. Stress is bad for you and your unborn child, when you do conceive. Remember that two committed people making a baby is a beautiful thing. Your mental health is as important if you are trying to get pregnant fast as your physical health.

If you have been trying to get pregnant for a while and are concerned, don’t panic! Before you get into the expense and stress of seeing a fertility specialist you should check out some of the more in depth resources that are immediately available like this one.

What are the best days to get pregnant?

If you are trying to get pregnant quickly then one of the most important factors you should take into account is to make sure that you are having intercourse on the days on which you are most fertile. So what are the best days to get pregnant?

Some people swear by looking at astrological charts to decide the best days to get pregnant. Good news – you can put away the charts and just get out a regular calendar! The best days to get pregnant are the days around when you ovulate. If you menstruate regularly every 28 days, then your most fertile days will be days 12 – 17 through your cycle. This is because you will probably be ovulating mid cycle (day 14). The best days to get pregnant are the days around your ovulation (2 days before up to 3 days after).

What if you are not sure when you ovulate? Luckily, modern science has taken the guess work out of knowing your ovulation date.

First, you need to get familiar with your basal body temperature. A basal body temperature (BBT) is the temperature of your body when at rest. During ovulation a woman’s BBT increases anywhere from half a degree to a whole degree Fahrenheit. So charting your BBT (usually first thing in the morning) is a good way to know when you are ovulating.

Another easy way to know the best days to get pregnant is to buy an ovulation predictor kit. These kits are relatively inexpensive and easily available at drug stores and in pharmacy aisles. The kits work by determining the level of certain hormones in your urine. The kits are easy to use and give you immediate results.

Here’s another handy tip – make sure your partner abstains from intercourse with you and masturbation for a few days before your optimal fertility window. This will ensure that his sperm count is as high as possible, giving you the most chances of success.

If you are concerned that you are not getting pregnant don’t panic!

What is the best position to get pregnant?

Many couples who are trying to conceive want to know what is the best position to get pregnant. Is there such a thing?

Well, while no position is guaranteed to make sure you will conceive, some positions can clearly give nature a helping hand. In order for you to get pregnant, sperm from the male needs to reach the woman’s egg. Any position that makes it easier for the sperm to reach the woman’s cervix will be a good position for couples who are trying to get pregnant. These would be positions that allow for deep penetration and do not have gravity working against them.

Examples would be:

  • The missionary position (woman on her back and man on top)
  • Side position (woman on her side, male laying behind her)

Therefore positions that are not helpful if you are trying to get pregnant would be positions where the semen would flow away from the cervix due to gravity. These would include positions where the woman is standing, straddling or on top of the man.

Additional tips if you are trying to get pregnant quickly:

  • Give nature a helping hand. The longer the semen has to swim into the cervix, the better the chances of conceiving. Make sure the woman doesn’t hop right out of bed and run to the bathroom after intercourse. Most doctors recommend that women trying to conceive stay in bed laying down for half an hour after intercourse. Elevating your hips on a pillow may also help, but don’t choose a pillow that’s too high. This might result in the semen pooling behind the cervix, not depositing in it.
  • Don’t use lubricants. Although they are not intended for use a s contraception, many of them contain spermicide.
  • Relax and try not to put too much pressure on yourself. Stress and anxiety will affect your ability to have an orgasm. Obviously without a male orgasm you are not going to get pregnant. But research also shows that a female orgasm increases the chances of becoming pregnant.

Perhaps even more important than your position if you are trying to get pregnant is your timing. Make sure you read our post on the best days to get pregnant if you need more information on this topic.

Now remember, no one wants their love life to turn into a science experiment! Relax a little and enjoy the process. It’s natural after all…our ancestors managed to conceive long before internet instructions ever came into their lives :)

Also not – important- there is NO sexual position that will ensure that you do not get pregnant! If you are interested in making sure you do not conceive then your only choices are to use contraceptives or to completely abstain from sex. I know that should be obvious but it bears repeating.

How To Get Pregnant With a Boy

How To Get Pregnant With a Boy – Think Timing

There are many reasons that couples may have a strong preference to have one gender child over another. In some cultures for reasons of inheriting property or  carrying on a family name there is a strong preference for single children to be male. In Western cultures mostly the preference has to do with completing a family unit (for example a couple already has a girl and they want to know how to get pregnant with a boy).

Whatever your reason for strongly preferring one sex baby over another the good news is that in recent times science has overtaken what used to be purely the domain of old wives tales. In the past women were subjected to drinking strange potions or studying astrological charts if they wanted to help influence the sex of their child. Today there are more scientific options available.

One option is to visit a gender selection clinic where sperm can be separated into male and female components. This is a costly endeavor and for many people poses moral and ethical problems.

Another option is for couples who want to get pregnant with a boy is to pay close attention to the timing of intercourse. Of course, this is a less “reliable” method, but it is completely within the control of a couple. Recent research points to the fact that “girl” producing sperm tend to be strong but slower swimmers and they live longer. “Male” producing sperm tend to be faster swimmers. So if you want to increase your chances of conceiving a boy you should be sure not to have intercourse for the 4-5 days before ovulation. Many girls are conceived when intercourse happened before ovulation because it took the sperm longer to reach the egg. The female sperm can wait longer for the egg to arrive, while in the meantime all the male producing sperm have died. To increase your chance of conceiving a boy have intercourse the day of ovulation. The faster male sperm will reach the egg faster. Now again, this is not an exact or guaranteed science, but it is a general guideline to help you out.

Is there a best position to get pregnant with a boy?

As previously mentioned, the male producing sperm  tend to die more quickly than than their female producing counterparts. For this reason many people feel that sex positions that allow for deep penetration and a shorter distance for the sperm to travel to the egg will increase your chances of conceiving a boy. These positions would include positions where the man approaches the woman from behind (“doggy style”) or else a regular missionary position (woman flat on her back) but with her legs high in the air. While neither of these positions guarantees you have a boy, using these positions along with paying particular attention to your intercourse timing (see above) can increase your chances significantly.

Diet
Other really important things to consider when wanting to conceive a girl or a boy are diet and the PH balance of the woman’s vagina (strongly influenced by diet). An excellent more detailed resource that explains all of this can be found by clicking the image below or by clicking here

Learn to answer the question “when am I ovulating”?

Once you start to have a desire to become pregnant you should start learning to read your body cues so that you have a good idea of your menstrual rhythms and so that you can answer the question of “when am I ovulating” for yourself.

There are many clues that your body gives you to let you know when you are ovulating, and therefore when you are most likely to become pregnant.

  • Look at the calendar. Ovulation usually occurs around day 14 of your menstrual cycle.
  • Do you have an increased sex drive? Biologically we are no different than animals in heat (sorry if that offends. It is a biological fact that ensures the continuation of any species). We are programmed to be most interested in having sex when they are most fertile. Many women experience an increased sex drive in the days immediately proceeding ovulation.
  • Check your temperature. During ovulation a woman’s body temperature will increase approx. 0 .4 of a degree.
  • During ovulation a woman’s cervical discharge changes consistency. It will become slippery but sticky. Many describe it as resembling the consistency of egg whites

Knowing when you ovulate is key if your goal is to get pregnant quickly. The more you understand the clues your body id giving you, the easier it will be for you to get pregnant.

When are you most fertile?

Obviously if you are looking to get pregnant you want to increase your chances of conceiving by making sure you have intercourse on the days that you are most fertile. But when are you most fertile?

Every woman who is trying to become pregnant should become familiar with their particular body rhythms and learn when their “fertility window” is. The first step would be to track your menstrual cycle for at least 2-3 months. An average cycle (day 1 starting on the first day of your period and counting until the first day of your next period) is 28 days. For some women their cycle is a couple of days more. Your fertility window is mid way through your cycle on the day that you are most likely to ovulate. Ovulation is the day when your ovary releases an egg. So if your menstrual cycle is usually 28 days, then you would ovulate most likely on day 14. If your cycle runs consistently 30 days, ovulation would most likely occur on day 15.

After the egg is released from the ovary it travels to the fallopian tube. It remains in the fallopian tube for about 24 hours. If, within that time, a sperm penetrates the egg wall and fertilizes it, you will have the very beginning stages of a pregnancy.

So the best days to get pregnant are the days in the middle of your menstrual cycle. If you have irregular periods, or are not attune to body’s cues that you are ovulating, you may wan to consider getting an ovulation predictor kit from the local drug store. They are relatively inexpensive and can be a very helpful tool in helping you to determine when you are most fertile.

How To Conceive A Girl – Can Your Position Really Help?

For many couples trying to conceive their first child can be fun and exciting. They want to just enjoy the whole process and just let “nature decide” whether they conceive a girl or a boy. However, for a couple who already has a couple of boys maybe, and is only looking to have one more child, knowing how to conceive a girl becomes very important.
So do you just have to rely on nature, or are their safe and natural ways to influence the gender of your child?

The first thing to know is that science and technology can definitely help. There are clinics that specialize in sperm separation techniques. All semen contains both male producing sperm (X chromosome) and female producing sperm (Y chromosome). Typically the female producing sperm tend to be heavier and more robust. Using a method invented by Dr. R. Ericsson in the 1970’s sperm can be separated by it’s mass in a laboratory resulting in semen that can be either a higher concentration of male producing or female producing sperm. The higher concentration of semen can then be used to impregnate the mother.

This Ericsson method boasts on average of a 70% success rate. Of course, disadvantages to this method are cost and that it turns what should be a natural, fun baby making process into a science project. Most couples would need to be very motivated to conceive a girl to endure conceiving what some call a “turkey baster” baby.

For the couple who doesn’t want their baby making to be a science project but still wants to try and “stack the deck” more towards conceiving a baby girl, certain other things can be done taking advantage of the scientific understanding that female producing sperm are more robust and tend to live longer than their male producing counterparts.

So if you you really are interested in how to conceive a girl naturally you should consider the following when planning to conceive – position and timing.

Position

When considering the best position to conceive a girl you need to remember that female producing sperm are more robust and live longer than male producing sperm, but they are also slower. Therefore deeper penetration positions (example, rear entry) would favor the faster, male sperm getting to the cervix and the egg quicker. Lower penetration positions or ones with gravity working against the sperm (example, woman on top) would favor the stronger, female bearing sperm getting to the egg first.

Timing

More effective than position, would be to consider the timing if you want to conceive a girl. First, make sure you have a good understanding of your ovulation cycle and when you are most fertile. Tracking for a few months or using an inexpensive ovulation predictor kit can help you achieve this. When you know where in your cycle you ovulate, if you are trying to conceive a girl it is best to have intercourse 2-3 days before the egg is released, and then not again until a few days after ovulation In most cases the quicker but faster dying male producing sperm will have perished before the egg is released.

Note that paying attention to timing an position to influence the sex of your child is not a guarantee, but it can give nature a helping hand and a push in the right direction.

Diet
Other really important things to consider when wanting to conceive a girl or a boy are diet and the PH balance of the woman’s vagina (strongly influenced by diet). An excellent more detailed resource that explains all of this can be found by clicking the image below or by clicking here
